Hi all,

My question is:

How can i idenitfy in a dataguard configuration which one of my database is primary and which one is standby without opening the database.

I need to automate this dataguard process in java?how can i automate? any ideas?

Any idea how to automate oracle 9i dataguard failover and switch over from external application.

you can use data guard broker.

dgmgrl command line will provide you interface to perform switchover and failover operations.

check v$instance view has instance_role column to indicate dataguard status
