I'm new to Oracle, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
I'm learning about backup, recovery.
Is it possible to use RMAN ,using single database for practice perpose.
I have Installed Oracle 10g on windows Xp professional in my home system.
Thanks in advance for the help

Yes it is possible.
you can backup/restore/duplicate do anything you want.
For more fun, try using the same with VMWARE.
